ULTEM™ Resin is a family of amorphous thermoplastic polyetherimide (PEI) materials renowned for delivering exceptional performance under high-heat and chemically aggressive conditions. ULTEM™ Resin Benefits

  • Long-Term Heat Resistance: Exceptional mechanical and physical property stability at elevated temperatures. High glass transition temperature (Tg) of 217°C and relative thermal indices (RTI) up to 180°C.
  • Strength and Stiffness: Outstanding mechanical performance compared to other amorphous thermoplastics. Transparent, unfilled grades match the strength of filled alternatives.
  • Dimensional Stability: Among the most dimensionally stable thermoplastics, offering precise performance across a wide temperature range. Filled grades enable high-tolerance dimensional capabilities.
  • Environmental Stress and Crack Resistance: Superior resistance to stress cracking when exposed to automotive and aircraft fluids, hydrocarbons, alcohols, acids, and aqueous solutions.
  • Flammability, Smoke Generation, and Toxicity: Inherently flame-resistant without additives. Meets UL94 V0 specifications in sections as thin as 0.41 mm, generates extremely low smoke, and produces combustion products no more toxic than wood.
  • Processability: Supports extrusion, thermoforming, extrusion blow molding, and injection molding. High flowability enables thin-wall parts down to 0.2 mm using conventional molding equipment.
  • Sustainability: ISCC+ certified bio-based ULTEM resins replace 25.5% of fossil feedstock with renewable materials, such as crude tall oil from the wood industry, without sacrificing performance.
